First I tried to install the printer using the printers GUI in settings
but that didn't get me anything that works. So I read in Ask Ubuntu site
where I learned the Epson Artisan 710 printer is too old and I need to
download the driver myself and install it using the dpkg -i command line
shown below.
The Epson site has a number of possibilities. I tried 3 of the files
with file names ending in *amd64.deb. The files I tried are:
epson-inkjet-printer-stylus-photo-px810fw-series_1.0.0-1lsb3.2_amd64.deb
epson-printer-utility_1.1.1-1lsb3.2_amd64.deb
epson-inkjet-printer-escpr_1.7.8-1lsb3.2_amd64.deb
For each I got the UNEXPECTEDLY SHORT screen output shown below.
The settings GUI does not show that any printer was installed.
bilsch01:~$ sudo dpkg -i

It didn't seem like it installed a printer driver. Indeed no printer is
installed. Does anyone know what I should do?
TIA. Bill S.
